Hi my name is Kayla Warren and I am super excited to be part of the Kindergarten team this year! I was with Westwood several years ago at the Elementary and decided to return! This will be my 6th year with the district and my 2nd year as a classroom teacher. Kindergarten will be a new adventure for the both of us but I am looking forward to a exciting, eventful, and fun filled year this year. I cannot wait to begin working with you and your child to make this year a very successful one.
This year will be a year of important transitions for both you and your child, as well as one in which many new skills are introduced. I hope your child’s first full day of Kindergarten will be fun and exciting. So much happens in Kindergarten! Because of this, parents as well as children may have some apprehensions about what will happen and how fast it will happen. It is extremely important to keep in mind that we build on small successes with children at this age. Each child will progress at their own rate, acquiring skills as they are developmentally ready.
Maintaining your child’s self-esteem and confidence will ALWAYS remain a priority in OUR classroom. Here are some ways you as a parent can help:
- Celebrate your child’s successes, no matter how small they may seem. This will help keep your child be enthusiastic about learning and remain proud of their work!
- Look for and read your child’s weekly newsletter. This will have important information for the week and helpful reminders about upcoming events.
- Read to and with your child EVERYDAY. The more your child is exposed to language, the easier it will be for them to acquire new skills we learn in the classroom.
My conference time is from 8:50 – 9:40AM. Please do not hesitate to call the school (903)729-1774 or email me with any questions or concerns that you may have. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org. I will do my best to respond the same day and as quickly as possible. I believe communication is key and will do my absolute best to keep this site updated as much as possible.
I graduated from Westwood and went on to receive my Bachelor's from The University of Texas at Tyler. My husband, Danny and I have been married for 6 years and together we have 4 beautiful children. Our youngest just turned 4 and oldest is 16. I love spending time with my family, spending time outdoors at the lake, hunting, fishing, or playing sports. I also enjoy scrap booking and photography. Some of my favorites include; the color teal or blue, sweet tea, Italian food, crosses, candles, shoes, and the beach.
