We need to create a list of free apps that the campus would like pushed out to our new iPads that we recieved on Friday. I know I asked for suggestions last year, but with so many new staff members and tech opportunities I am fairly certain that list has changed.  Please comment below with any apps that you would like to have added to your devices, a brief description of the app so others that read your post may decide if they would like it too, and if you feel like it would benefit your entire grade level. They can do pushes for the entire campus, separate grade levels, or individual teachers. Happy Hunting everyone! I have a pretty long list going from the iPad trial I did last year and the tech conferences that I have been able to attend to the list point. I will post my list as a comment.

IR data analysis is going on all around you this week.  We are finding many HUGE gaps in reading (we haven't looked at Math yet).  I want you to see what we are facing and reminding you that this is crucial that we make immediate changes in how we are focusing instruction and how we are assessing.  Thanks to those working so diligently on this data collection and understanding the direction we must go. :) Mrs. Doran, Mrs. Morman, Mrs. Bayless, Mrs. Coates and others that have jumped in to assist - Mrs. Wheeler, Mrs. Florence

Please post any questions or comments here pertaining to Improvement Required process, data, etc.:

As many of you know we are classified as a TEA "Improvement Required" campus and this will involve some indepth focus on what we are doing and how to improve instruction that results in student achievement.
We need to focus on the depth, filedity, and complexity at which we present instruction in the classroom and the alignment to TEKS.  Periodically I will post FOCUS QUESTIONS OR STATEMENTS that I would ask that you discuss during weekly grade level meetings.  Report your discussion through "comments" on this post.

FOCUS QUESTIONS:  How are we including shared reading and guided reading/writing in the daily instructional day and what proof do we have of this?  How are we assessing this?  What TEKS are we focusing on and do we understand the concept to be taught and what level?  (one way to look at TEKS in a new way that help dig deeper is to start with the verbs first and then the concept)  - example:(C) retell the order of events in a text by referring to the words and/or illustrations;
How would you have the students RETELL (with context clues)?  What is the concept being taught? - order of events or sequencing. VERBS FIRST - gives you the "what they should be able to do".

Many of you are asking about putting students into classrooms and what numbers to use.  Check on SKYWARD and use the "other" ID number at the top as your SUPERKIDS ID number.

Also, Mr. Moon will be here on campus the last week in October to "coach" all classes using SUPERKIDS.  This allows time for you to work out the kinks, show student progress and to effectively understand the program.  Be sure to contact the Hotline if you have any questions that noone has the answer to.

Thanks and keep on keeping on!

The kids LOVE the characters, songs, and music!!!  The online lesson plans facilitate step by step instruction and make it easy to incorporate technology in the classroom (although I'm having to log back in after a prolonged period).  Completing each component on a daily basis, however, is significantly challenging due to breaks in our daily schedule (i.e. specials, recess, restroom breaks, etc.), in addition to the actual amount of time it takes to complete each step and daily routine.  I do see the great strengths in this curriculum and feel that it will really help our kids become successful readers!
